It was my pleasure to welcome Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Vic Fedeli to Belleville Feb. 1, alongside my colleague Daryl Kramp, MPP for Hastings-Lennox and Addington to announce a pair of $500,000 investments through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund.
At Sprague Foods, top, the investment supported $5.6 million in private investment to support new equipment and the construction of a new storage facility. These projects will increase productivity and sales into new markets. It is expected to create 14 jobs.
At Ontario Truss and Wall Ltd. the investments supports $8.4 million in private investment to expand to two new product lines not currently produced in our region. The project will include a new 24,000-square-foot facility. At least 23 jobs will be created.
I was pleased to invite my colleague David Piccini, MPP for Peterborough-Northumberland and Ontario's environment minister to the south shore of Prince Edward County, where our government is proposing to create Ontario's first new conservation reserve since 1999. If approved, the designation would preserve the Ostrander Point Crown Land Block and Point Petre Provincial Wildlife Area for conservation and recreation. Special thanks to the South Shore Joint Initiative, Nature Conservancy of Canada and Prince Edward County for their work on this project.
You can have your say about this proposal and future land uses in the area at https://ero.ontario.ca/notice/019-4597 by March 12.
