Province moves Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital build to tendering stage

In Picton, April 26, I announced the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital redevelopment project is moving to Stage 4 of a five-stage capital approvals process.  This stage will allow Quinte Health Care to finalize detailed drawings, pre-qualify bidding contractors, tender the project, and pick a preferred contractor.  Typically, the stage lasts 18-24 months. The fifth and final step is breaking ground and starting construction.

I'm excited to announce that the Ontario government has committed 160 bed allocations to build the first new long-term care home in Belleville in nearly two decades.  Neighbourhood Better Living, a partnership between SigNature Communities, Castway Construction, and UniversalCare Canada is planning the build near the corner of Sidney St. and Bell Boulevard with an entrance off Tracey Street.  The home will allow seniors and vulnerable people to access the care they need closer to home and ease pressures on our local hospitals.
